UBD Scholars Graduate from Zhejiang University

Zhejiang, China 3 July 2015.  A special graduation ceremony for the first batch of thirteen (13) students under the Hengyi Industries scholarship programme was hosted by Zhejiang University and University Brunei Darussalam at Zhejiang University, China last week. The students have recently completed eighteen months of the joint Process & Chemical Engineering studies at Zhejiang University which included a six months industrial placement at Hengyi’s petrochemical plant in China.

Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee at Zhejiang University, Yan Jian Hua, officiated and congratulated the graduates on behalf of Zhejiang University.  Also present to witness the ceremony was the Dean of UBD’s Faculty of Integrated Technologies, Pg Dr Iskandar Pg Hj Petra who presented certificates to the 13 graduates.

Hengyi engaged Community in Open Dialogue

Serasa, Muara Thurs 14 May 2015.   Hengyi Industries Sdn Bhd & BEDB organized a Stakeholder Engagement Dialogue involving several government agencies and local communities around Mukim Serasa. The event was held at Hengyi’s Muara site office and was attended by officers from EDPMO, the Brunei Muara District Office, Town & Country Planning, ABCi, DEPR, the Marine dept, Ports dept, Fisheries dept, Royal Brunei Police Force, Fire Brigade, Dept of Labour, Immigration, Royal Navy, Penghulus, Village Heads and Mukim Serasa Consultative members. The main aim of the dialogue session was to update relevant authorities and the surrounding communities on Hengyi’s Refinery project at Pulau Muara Besar, its implications, whilst providing a platform for local communities to voice their concerns.

Hengyi Industries, Empire Golf & Country Club. 11 March 2015.  The Ambassador of The People’s Republic of China, H.E. Ms Yang Jian and a delegation of embassy officials yesterday visited Hengyi’s Oil Refinery & Aromatics Cracker Plant site at Pulau Muara Besar.

partnership between Damai Holdings Limited and Hengyi, the project will muster in huge investments to a tune of approximately USD4 billion, and will support around 800 jobs with spin-off opportunities in employment and businesses.  The project site will occupy an area of approximately 260 hectares on PMB.  Currently the main focuses are dredging, backfilling and reclamation activities in and around the island in preparation for the construction.  Once complete, the refinery is expected to produce eight million tons of products per year including Aromatics, Gasoline & Diesel, providing enough fuel requirements to meet local demand.
