11 UBD students to complete studies at Zhejiang University

February 14, 2018. ELEVEN students from Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) yesterday penned scholarship agreements with Hengyi Industries Sdn Bhd for its joint Chemical and Process Engineering Scholarship Programme between UBD and Zhejiang University, China.

The Chemical and Process Engineering Scholarship Programme was established by Hengyi Industries with UBD and Zhejiang University to sponsor outstanding UBD students to undertake the latter part of their academic studies and industrial training at Zhejiang University for one and a half years.

The programme will see the students being attached to a petrochemical plant in China to gain firsthand experience in a real-life operational refinery environment. Upon completion of the programme, the students will be offered employment at Hengyi Industries Sdn Bhd.

619 PPK trainees join Hengyi’s PMB project

January 9, 2018 WITH 619 trainees of the Capacity Building Centre (PPK) gaining employment at the Hengyi Petrochemical Plant at Pulau Muara Besar (PMB), unemployment in the country has declined by 0.3 per cent at the end of December 2017.

PPK and other initiatives such as i-Ready, Industry Competency Framework (ICF), JobCentre Brunei (JCB) together contributed to a reduction in unemployment from six per cent to five per cent, the Energy and Industry Department at the Prime Minister’s Office (EIDPMO) said in a statement issued during the send-off ceremony for the second batch of the first cohort of 286 PPK trainees (Group B) who departed to join the Hengyi project yesterday.

By end of 2018, PPK plans to enrol and train up to 3,000 local jobseekers, the statement added.

Of the PPK Graduate Cohort 1, 579 trainees joined the Hengyi project in January 2018 and 293 reported for work on January 2 (Group A), while 40 trainees of the Heavy Vehicle Driver (HVD) programme joined PMB since December 2017.

November 17, 2017 HENGYI Industries Sdn Bhd organised a Stakeholder Engagement Dialogue involving several government agencies and local communities around Mukim Serasa at Hengyi’s office at The Empire Hotel & Country Club yesterday.

Officers from the Energy and Industry Department at the Prime Minister’s Office (EIDPMO), FAST, the Brunei-Muara District Office, Town and Country Planning Department, Authority of Building Control and Construction Industry (ABCi), Department of Environment, Parks and Recreation, the Maritime and Ports Authority of Brunei Darussalam, Fisheries Department, Royal Brunei Police Force, Fire and Rescue Department, Department of Labour, Immigration and National Registration Department, and Royal Customs and Excise Department attended the event.
