24 Politeknik Brunei Students Depart for Lanzhou under Hengyi Industries - PB Joint Collaboration Programme

Brunei International Airport, 5 March 2024 – 24 Chemical Engineering students from Politeknik Brunei (PB) embarked on an educational journey to Lanzhou, People’s Republic of China, as part of the collaborative programme between Hengyi Industries Sendirian Berhad (Hengyi Industries) and PB to further their studies at Lanzhou Petrochemical University of Vocational Technology (LPUVT).

Established in March 2021, the Joint Collaboration Programme provides students the opportunity to acquire practical skills and knowledge essential for a career in the petrochemical industry. Over the three-year (3) programme, the students have completed two (2) years of study at PB and will be undergoing one (1) semester of study at LPUVT. Following this, they will conclude their final semester with Hengyi Industries at Pulau Muara Besar, where they will engage in industrial-based learning, providing them with valuable practical experience.

The Joint Collaboration Programme also provides the students with Conditional Offers of Employment (CoE). Upon the successful completion and graduation of their studies, the students will be offered the opportunity for full-time employment at Hengyi Industries.

Nur Farah Bathrisya binti Mahdini, one of the students departing for Lanzhou, shared her thoughts on her upcoming journey. “As an engineering student and the youngest in my family, I consider studying abroad as a life-transformative experience where I can immerse myself in a completely new cultural setting, discover new abilities, and conquer new challenges. For all these, I want to show my greatest gratitude to Politeknik Brunei and Hengyi Industries for sponsoring and supporting me in this journey.”

Also sharing his excitement is Pg Muhd Abdul Malik Bin Pg Ibnoh, who said, “The cooperation between LPUVT and Hengyi Industries has uncovered the road for me to discover and explore the world of the Petrochemical industry and enhance my skills. I am very grateful for this opportunity. I seek to learn and enhance my knowledge with LPUVT and wish to contribute to Brunei's economy together with Hengyi Industries for a better future.”
