Scholarships awarded to 21 Bright IBTE Talents under Hengyi Industries – IBTE Joint Scholarship Programme

Hengyi Industries, Pulau Muara Besar, 14 September 2023 – Hengyi Industries Sdn Bhd. (Hengyi Industries) held a Scholarship Signing Ceremony whereby 21 talented youths from the Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE) were awarded scholarships under the Joint Scholarship Programme between Hengyi Industries, IBTE, and Lanzhou Petrochemical University of Vocational Technology (LPUVT).

Present as guests of honour during the signing ceremony were Mr. Chen Lian Cai, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Hengyi Industries and Dr Haji Mohd Zamri bin Haji Sabli, the CEO/Director of IBTE.

The event began with a safety briefing, followed by the recital of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat. Mr. Chen Lian Cai, the CEO of Hengyi Industries, then delivered his opening remarks for the students and guests.

During the signing ceremony, the students signed scholarship agreements with the CEO of Hengyi Industries and the CEO/Director of IBTE as witnesses. The event then concluded with a group photo session.

These students are the fifth batch to receive scholarships under the Hengyi Industries, IBTE and LPUVT Joint Scholarship Programme. Established in 2018, the programme is part of Hengyi’s Future-Ready Initiative with the aim of empowering local talents with the knowledge and skills required to become future leaders of the Petrochemical Industry.

The Joint Scholarship Programme offers a three-year Diploma in Refinery Operator course, with one year of academic study at IBTE Jefri Bolkiah Campus, one year of study with LPUVT in Lanzhou, and one year of industrial training (on-the-job) with Hengyi Industries at Pulau Muara Besar. Upon completion and graduation from the programme, the scholars will be expected to join Hengyi Industries and begin their career in the petrochemical industry.

As of today, a total of 142 students have been awarded with scholarships under the Hengyi Industries, IBTE and LPUVT Joint Scholarship Programme, and 47 students have begun their careers as refinery operators with Hengyi Industries after completing their studies.
