Hengyi Industries Continues Educational Outreach Programme to Schools in Belait District

26 August 2025 – Hengyi Industries Sdn Bhd (Hengyi Industries) continued its Educational Outreach Programme with visits to Chung Ching Middle School and Chung Hua Middle School in the Belait District, engaging and inspiring over 400 students from Years 9, 10, and 11 as part of its ongoing efforts to support Brunei’s youth.

This follows the company’s earlier outreach sessions in June at Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah School, Pengiran Isteri Hajjah Mariam Secondary School (SMPIHM), and Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan Science College (Maktab Sains).

During the sessions, Hengyi Industries continued its initiative to inspire the students by introducing them to Hengyi Group and Hengyi Industries, highlighting the company’s journey and operations. Students were given an overview of the transformation of Pulau Muara Besar into a modern petrochemical complex, along with key milestones achieved in Phase I of the project.

The presentations also touched on the wide range of refined products manufactured, Hengyi Industries’ corporate social responsibility initiatives, and the company’s ongoing commitment to environmental monitoring and protection to ensure safe, sustainable, and responsible operations.

Hengyi Industries’ Joint Scholarship & Collaboration Programme, in partnership with Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE), and Politeknik Brunei, was the main focus of the presentation. Through the scholarship programme, students are offered opportunities to pursue specialised courses related to the petrochemical industry, including a fully funded pathway to study abroad at Zhejiang University or Lanzhou Petrochemical Polytechnic in China. Upon completing their studies, graduates are offered employment opportunities with Hengyi Industries.

The session ends with an interactive question-and-answer and quiz segment, giving students the chance to engage with Hengyi Industries’ representatives and deepen their understanding further.

The Educational Outreach Programme is part of the “Hengyi Future-Ready” aspiration, the company’s long-term initiative dedicated to developing local talent and preparing the next generation to play an active role in Brunei’s petrochemical industry.
