Hengyi Industries Engages Students Through Educational Outreach Programme

8 July 2025 – Hengyi Industries Sdn Bhd (Hengyi Industries) conducted its Educational Outreach Programme (EOP), engaging with over 800 students from three local secondary schools throughout June and July 2025 as part of its ongoing commitment to nurture the next generation of local talent in Brunei Darussalam.

The programme kicked off at Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah School on 3 June, followed by a visit to Pengiran Isteri Hajjah Mariam Secondary School (SMPIHM) on 4 June, and concluded at Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan Science College (Maktab Sains) on 7 July.

As part of the programme, Hengyi Industries provided students of each school with an in-depth presentation introducing students to Hengyi Group and Hengyi Industries, including an overview of its operations and the transformation of Pulau Muara Besar into the petrochemical complex today. The presentation also highlighted the key milestones of Phase I of the project, the range of refined products manufactured, as well as the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives, and Hengyi Industries’ commitment to environmental monitoring and protection to ensure sustainable and responsible operations.

The highlight of the presentation was the Joint Scholarship & Collaboration Programme, which was established in partnership with Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE), and Politeknik Brunei. The scholarship offers students the opportunity to acquire the knowledge and skills needed for a career in the petrochemical industry through various courses, which also include a fully funded opportunity to study abroad at prestigious institutions in China such as Zhejiang University and Lanzhou Petrochemical Polytechnic. Upon successful completion of their studies, graduates are offered employment opportunities with Hengyi Industries.

After the presentation, students have the opportunity to ask questions and engage with Hengyi Industries’ representatives in a question-and-answer session, where they can learn more about the company, its operations, and scholarship pathways.

As part of Hengyi Future-Ready Initiative, the Educational Outreach Programme reflects the company’s commitment to inspire students to consider careers in the petrochemical sector and encourage them to pursue technical and academic excellence, reflecting Hengyi Industries’ vision of "Excellence in Developing Petrochemicals through Pursuing Innovation and Business Sustainability."
