Hengyi Industries Presents Academic Excellence Awards to 15 High-Achieving Students

Hengyi Industries’ Main Office Building, Pulau Muara Besar Industrial Park, 29 May 2025 – Hengyi Industries Sdn. Bhd. (Hengyi Industries) held its inaugural Hengyi Industries Academic Excellence Award ceremony to honour and recognise the achievements of 15 outstanding students from Pengiran Isteri Hajjah Mariam Secondary School and Meragang Sixth Form Centre.

The event commenced with the recital of Do’a Selamat and a safety briefing. Madam Zhou Fu Zhen, Hengyi Industries' Head of Department (Human Resources), then gave her opening remarks, followed by a video presentation highlighting Hengyi Industries’ operations and its initiatives, including the Hengyi Industries Joint Scholarship & Collaboration Programme.

During the awards ceremony, seven (7) ‘O’ Level students from Pengiran Isteri Hajjah Mariam Secondary School and eight (8) ‘A’ Level students from Meragang Sixth Form Centre were presented with the Hengyi Industries Academic Excellence Award. Each recipient received a Certificate of Excellence and a monetary award of BND 300 in recognition of their hard work, dedication, and exceptional academic performance. The event concluded with a group photo and guided site tour around the Hengyi Industries facility, giving students first-hand insight into the refinery’s day-to-day operations.

The Hengyi Industries Academic Excellence Award is a new initiative under the company’s Hengyi Future-Ready, a key pillar of the company’s corporate social responsibility focused on supporting the growth and development of local talents in Brunei Darussalam. The award aims to recognise the outstanding academic performance among secondary and pre-university students, and encourage students to reach their full potential and prepare them for meaningful careers in the petrochemical industry.

This initiative also underscores our continued commitment to “Excellence in Developing Petrochemicals through Pursuing Innovation and Business Sustainability,” by nurturing a new generation of capable, driven, and knowledgeable youths who will contribute to Brunei’s development, both within the petrochemical industry and beyond. Through this award, Hengyi Industries also aims to encourage continuous learning among the youth and contribute to the nation’s journey towards achieving Wawasan Brunei 2035’s vision of having an educated, highly skilled and accomplished population.
